Accomplishments

  • Documented and resolved consultations and collaborative negotiations between government and non-government stakeholder engagements, which led to the drafting and finalization of Fiji's Ocean Policy.
  • Achieved Fiji's signing of the agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Treaty by effectively contributing to the review of the President's Text through PSID involvement at United Nations forums, regional (PIFS) discussions, and working group briefings (national level) as a core member of the Fiji Government delegation through the prep-com meeting series and the six (6) Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Intergovernmental Conferences at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
  • Achieved the re-establishment of the maritime boundary negotiations between Fiji and Vanuatu by effectively leading the Fiji Government delegation negotiations with Vanuatu and documenting through the official signatory to the meeting minutes for Fiji Capital's endorsement.
  • Achieved the completion of the technical review of Fiji's Extended Continental Shelf Submission on the South Fiji Basin by effectively leading the technical review of the geological, GIS, legal, and hydrographical sections of the final South Fiji Basin Extended Continental Shelf Submission.
  • Achieved the re-establishment of the maritime boundary negotiations between Fiji and Tonga by effectively leading the Fiji Government delegation negotiations with Tonga and documenting through the official signatory to the meeting minutes for Fiji Capital's endorsement.
  • Collaborated with the team from SPC on the development of the coastal monitoring program and the training of the marine geological team on the use of new scientific ocean monitoring equipment and data analysis around critical coastal communities around Viti Levu (Nadroga, Nadi, and Ba Provinces) in the development of the Coastal Geohazard Database.
  • Achieved SPC's Resilient Boundaries for a Blue Pacific Project 3rd phase survey objectives through leading a cross-functional scientific team in the collation of critical field scientific data on a critical basepoint feature in Fiji, the 3rd phase scientific survey was completed ahead of time, incorporating prioritizing and streamlining of critical survey objectives with available field staff and resources with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Led geological field teams undertaking months-long field surveys of green field projects which led to these projects sites being development ready for potential investors e.g. Kalo Explorations Company in Vanua Levu, Fiji.
